Is Social Networking, Hubpages taking over your life?
Do you feel that since you’ve become a member of Hubpages, that it’s taking over your life? I join Hubpages on19th November 2009 to this day I don’t know how I came across the website. All I seem to remember I was looking at ways to earn money online that day. Maybe that’s how I came across Hubpages and not looked back.
I join Hubpages because I felt I had something to say, whether someone else would read it or not. I’d gotten into the 2010 London Marathon and had started training for it. I felt I want to share my training with other people, and maybe help them if I could. I’d been a runner for 20 years and ran 19 full Marathons and some 80 plus Half Marathons. I felt I want to share my running with someone.
I’d seen the film Julie and Julia and until then I’d not seen a blog or anything else like that. I’ve always been online, surfing the Internet, downloading. Social networking didn’t hit off with me, I’m a member of Facebook, and who isn’t, but I don’t use it. I don’t use it the same way other people do. Social networking meant to me being online and I felt I didn’t have the time. Time to share my life with other people from around the world, who I would never meet, it just didn’t feel right to me.
Since joining Hubpages, I can’t put in down, take this week, I was in work from Sunday until late Wednesday evening. When I’m in work I don’t have much time, but I still find time to maybe write a Hub, or look through what others have written. Since finishing work on Wednesday evening, I’ve been here non-stop. Looking at other people work, going in the forum, writing Hubs, it seems that Hubpages have taken over my life. From someone who wasn’t into social networking to loving it, what had I been missing? I’m sure it just down to finding the right website site that’s right for you and your needs.
Hubpages has taken over my life, I loving it, and only wish I’d come across this sooner. I not made any money, Google closed my account with AdSense over Christmas, and to this day I don’t understand why. I appealed but it was turned down, I did everything they said and didn’t do anything you shouldn’t. However I’m not too worried by it all as I’ve found that just writing here is just as rewarding. And besides I’ve got Amazon maybe I’ll do better with that.
Since Google closed my account I didn’t write much because I didn’t feel like it, guess I was still wondering why. How I’m back and I’m ready to write, I’ve joined the 30 day Hub challenge which is easy really, just one Hub a day. All depends on how much time you have and if you have something to write about. Since joining Hubpages, I now carry a notepad and pen with me everywhere I go, as you never know what you will see on your travels.
I’m not a writer as what you would expect I work in the food manufacturing business, after leaving school with no qualification to my name. Writing is hard for me, but I’m willing to learn, and since joining Hubpages, I feel that I’ve got better at writing. I never sat down and wrote something, maybe a letter that needed writing that’s all. However I always felt I had the need in me to write something, wanting other people to see what I’ve written. It’s a great feeling to see how many people have come to see your pages. I’m often left thinking to myself, oh, my god how many people. I do know that several my Hub’s that I’ve written at the start need to be edited. Bad spelling and grammar, which I’m doing slowly, working my way through them, delete those, which are not doing well.
Since joining Hubpages, as it taken over your life, did you think that you wouldn’t be here that much only to find you are? How much time do you spend here on Hubpages, is it just an hour a day or 2 or maybe more? I’m loving it, I’ve found something that maybe I’ve been looking for all my life. The freedom to sit down and write something and to see it published on the Internet. My hub “How to make Carrot Wine” is in the top 8 on Google search. If you just type “Carrot wine” it’s in the top 20 I’m so pleased something I never through would happen. Me having something published on the Internet. It gives me a buzz, what does it do to you?
Take care and have fun.

Hi, kevin. Yes you've got the bug - as we all have who write hubs. I agree with everything you've said. Keep writing as you are writing, its fresh, its to the point and its a good read.
you sure do have the bug.... you are in good company, hope you spend many happy hours with us, welcome
Indeed you do have the bug, I joined a few days before you and I've only done 44 hubs!
But you are right, and I've just stopped all activity the last week (yeah, which is why I'm commenting here!) and I think you need to step back once in a while....

Hey Kevin, I'm enjoying reading your Hubs. You are a very prolific writer. 112 Hubs in 2 months?! Keep up the good work. LOL. You said who doesn't have a Facebook account? Me! LOL. I never got in to My Space either. I'm not saying I won't in the future. Maybe later.
Yep... it has taken over my life. I am not sure whether it is a good thing though. I am trying to find a happy medium and am still seeking it.
Good read!

Geez, I can certainly relate, as many of us here can as well. I too was innocently prowling around the internet and was fascinated with the notion of blogging as I simply wanted to really learn what it was...Which brought me here: Make Money! Write! Meet others! What's there not to like? Lo and behold, six-months later and I can't shake this thing.
Enjoy the ride my friend! There must be something you can do about Google...There's always a way.
Great hub! I enjoyed reading it.
